Govt unveils Common Minimum Program

The government has made public its Common Minimum Program (CMP) that outlines its priorities as well as the tasks that will be executed during its term of office. The CMP was announced in the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at a program held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The document brings together the policy priorities and minimum programs of the ruling parties.

Shalikram Jamkattel appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province

Maoist Center Parliamentary Party leader Shalikram Jamkattel has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province. Jamkattel, who submitted his claim with the support of 70 state assembly members, was appointed as the chief minister by state chief Yadav Chandra Sharma on Monday.

I am hopeful Prachanda will get a vote of confidence: UMl Chair KP Oli

Chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli has said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will get a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Tuesday. Addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Oli said, “I am confident that Prachanda will get a vote of confidence. I’ll congratulate him right now.”

NC will have constructive role in Parliament: NC Prez Deuba

President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the parliamentarians to make special contribution to protect the Constitution. Addressing the first meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Deuba said that the Nepali Congress — the largest party in the parliament — will present itself constructively and will continue to connect with the people’s issues.

13 Nepalis held hostage in Malaysia set to return home

13 Nepali citizens who were held hostage in Malaysia have been rescued and six among them are returning home on Tuesday. On Monday morning, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ instructed Chief Secretary Shankardas Bairagi to take stock of the situation of the Nepalis who were taken hostage and take steps to immediately release and rescue them.

One killed, 4 injured in Surkhet jeep accident

One person died and 4 others were injured in a jeep accident in Birendranagar. The jeep (Karnali Pradesh No. 02001 Ch 0606), which left from Gumi in Gurbakot Municipality of the district for Cholpa in Simta Rural Municipality, fell into a ditch about 500 meters below Milan Chowk.

Province 1 Chief Minister Karki takes oath

Chief Minister of Province 1, Hikmat Kumar Karki, took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday. Karki was appointed Chief Minister on Sunday by the Province Chief Parshuram Khapung.

Domestic airfare slashed

Airfare has been slashed following a decrement in aviation fuel by the government. As per the revised rate, the Nepal Oil Corporation has reduced Rs 20 for a liter aviation fuel. Following this, a flight between Kathmandu and Dhangadhi has been adjusted at minimum Rs 7,510 per person, a decrement of Rs 885.
