Maoist Center requests parties to vote for government



KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has urged all the parties and the independent lawmakers in the House of Representatives to give their vote of confidence to the government.

A meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) parliamentary party held at its office in Singha Durbar today decided to urge all political parties and independent MPs to give their trust vote to the government, Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre) parliamentary party Hitraj Pandey said.

A new government was formed on December 25 under the leadership of Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. The government is taking a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives on January 10.

Dahal was appointed the Prime Minister with the support of 169 MPs in the lower house of the Federal Parliament in course of the formation of the government.

As per the Constitution, the Prime Minister has to take a vote of confidence from the lower house within 30 days of the formation of the government.

In the meeting of the parliamentary party today, parliamentary party leader in the National Assembly and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha issued guideline on the overall responsibility of the MPs, Pandey said.

CPN (Maoist Centre) parliamentary party leader and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in the meeting urged all the lawmakers to also personally create an environment for giving vote of confidence to the government and to hold talks with lawmakers from other parties as well for that purpose.

PM Dahal informed the meeting that discussions have been held with other parties, including the Nepali Congress, and lawmakers, apart from the MPs and parties lending support for government formation.

Chief Whip Pandey said the meeting discussed on making the MPs’ role in the House of Representatives meetings constructive and pro-people.
