KATHMANDU: In response to the 14 kg gold smuggling case, the government has established a committee tasked with conducting a thorough investigation.

The committee, led by Custom Officer Mani Ram Poudel, includes Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Prasad Subedi, Custom Officer Prakash Niraula, Dilli Prasad Sharma, and Officer Manju Thapa.

The individuals involved in the alleged smuggling, Chandra Ghale and Min Bahadur Ghale from Gorkha, were apprehended on Thursday. The arrest followed the discovery by Tribhuvan Customs Office officials, who found the gold cleverly shaped like biscuits and concealed on both sides of Chandra Ghale’s chest, meticulously wrapped in cloth and shoes.

Chandra Ghale, arriving in Kathmandu on a Fly Dubai flight (FZ 573) on Thursday night, was taken into custody at 11:40 PM.
