KATHMANDU: Two Chinese army aircraft, carrying relief aid for victims of the recent Jajarkot earthquake, landed in Pokhara today.

The aircraft, laden with essential supplies, landed at the Pokhara International Airport on Wednesday morning.

Plans are underway to swiftly distribute the relief materials to the affected regions, in close collaboration with the Nepal government.

China, as a gesture of solidarity with its northern neighbor, has pledged relief assistance in two phases.

In an updated announcement on Tuesday, China increased its commitment to aid the affected, adding relief worth NRs 280 million to the earlier pledged Rs 10 million.

It should be noted that Chin’s Ambassador to neal Chen Song, on Tuesday announced an additional aid package of approximately Rs 280 million to support the victims of the recent earthquake.

Earlier, China had already committed relief materials worth Rs 10 crores for the earthquake-affected areas of Jajarkot and Rukum West, which endured significant human and material losses during the recent quake.

Earlier this week, the initial batch of relief materials arrived via trucks from the Rasuwagadhi border crossing, making their way from Kerung towards Kathmandu.

According to Chinese Ambassador Chen Song, an aid package amounting to 13 million RMB, approximately NRs 133 million, would be arriving in Nepal.

The cash assistance, characterized by the Red Cross Society of China as emergency aid, will be dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of the earthquake-stricken communities in Nepal.
