Govt committed to rescue Nepalis in Israel: Foreign Minister Saud

KATHMANDU: In response to the recent security threats faced by Nepali citizens in Israel due to the Hamas attack, the Government of Nepal is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad, Foreign Minister NP Saud, said.

During a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday, Foreign Minister Saud provided an update on the situation.

He underscored the government’s commitment to the safety of Nepali nationals in Israel and outlined the steps being taken to address the crisis.

Foreign Minister Saud stated that he has directed relevant agencies and the Nepalese Embassy in Israel to assess the situation of Nepali citizens in the region and to initiate rescue efforts as necessary.

He emphasized the importance of promptly informing Nepali nationals in Israel about the security guidelines issued by the Israeli government.

In addition to ensuring the safety of Nepali citizens, the government aims to provide them with the necessary support and assistance during this challenging time, he added.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Saud mentioned that there is a possibility that some students studying in Israel may have been affected by the recent attack carried out by Hamas militants on Israel.

Minister Saud also indicated that there are Nepali citizens who have not yet been contacted, but the government is actively engaged in implementing the necessary measures to ascertain their well-being.

Currently, there are approximately 4,500 Nepalese individuals working as caregivers in Israel.

Additionally, there are 265 Nepali students who are currently enrolled in the ‘Learn and Earn’ program initiated by the Israeli government.
