Unidentified person assaults Janaki Temple priest in Rautahat



JANAKPURDHAM: An incident unfolded as an assailant targeted a priest (sadhu) within a temple located in Rautahat district.

The attack occurred on priest Misrilal Sah, who serves at the Sri Ramjanaki temple situated in Deviparsa tole of Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality 3 in the district.

According to local resident Umesh Sah, the incident transpired at approximately 11 o’clock on Thursday night, when an unidentified individual hit Pujari Shah on the head with a sharp weapon while he was engaged in cooking.

Upon discovering that priest Sah had been attacked, concerned locals promptly rushed him to Bagmati Hospital in Pipra Bazar for immediate medical attention.

Presently, he is under medical care at the hospital.

Rautahat Police Chief, SP Mahendra Shrestha, indicated that he had recently been apprised of the attack on priest and had dispatched police personnel to investigate the matter.

The motive and identity of the assailant remain unclear.
