RSP Chairman highlights mistrust in govt agencies due to political interference

KATHMANDU: In a pertinent observation, Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has underscored the erosion of trust in government agencies owing to unwarranted political interventions within state entities.

During today’s session of the House of Representatives (HoR), Lamichhane articulated that the ongoing investigations conducted by government agencies into the gold smuggling scandal were being met with skepticism due to these political interventions.

On this occasion, Lamichhane, who also serves as the parliamentary party leader of RSP, posed a pointed query to the Home Minister. He inquired about the oversight mechanism in place to monitor activities that might be influencing the investigative processes surrounding the gold smuggling case over the past 20 days.

Lamichhane extended this demand for scrutiny even to leaders of the ruling parties, emphasizing that accountability should be upheld across the board.

In addition, he expressed profound concern over the disruptive discussions amongst the highest echelons of the three major political parties, highlighting their interference in the regular proceedings of the House meetings.

Lamichhane concluded by asserting that the House meetings should persevere, functioning as a platform for addressing the concerns of the people and facilitating discussions on matters crucial to the citizens.
