Not tired yet, will endeavor to change PP leader again: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said he has not given up his efforts for the parliamentary party (PP) leader and Prime Minister and would continue it ahead.

Speaking at a program organized in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu on Saturday, the NC General Secretary said that he was not tired of being defeated once as the PP leader.

“I want to make it loud and clear that I tried to become the PP leader as I felt the prevalent leadership has to be changed. I could not convince all my friends. But I am not tired, I am not defeated,” Thapa said, adding, “I will continue my endeavor as the conclusion drawn while filing condition as the PP leader has not changed even now.”

He pointed out that the Prime Minister is being selected from the former Prime Ministers in Nepal, and assured that when NC gets the opportunity to lead the government, it has to be changed.

“A former Prime Minister from the NC should not become the Prime Minister again when NC gets an opportunity to lead the government,” General Secretary Thapa said, vowing, “I will do my best to change it, the leadership should belong to at least my generation of leaders now.”

He also recalled how after the Constituent Assembly elections of 2064, Ram Chandra Paudel was made a parliamentary party as long as there was a feeble chance of getting elected to the post of Prime Minister and the leadership went again to Deuba when NC was likely to get the post of the Prime Minister.
