KATHMANDU: Nepal has suffered its second defeat in the Paris Olympic women’s football Asia qualifying match played at Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu on Saturday.

Nepal lost to Vietnam by 2-0. Vietnam scored two goals in the first few minutes of the first half. Pham Hai Yen scored two consecutive goals for Vietnam in the fifth and sixth minutes of the game.

Although Nepal served an improved game against strong rival Vietnam, it failed to score any goals. Nepal was not able to make good use of the opportunities it got many times. After defeating Nepal, Vietnam reached the second round of Asia qualifiers.

In the first match, Nepal was defeated by Vietnam with a wide difference of 5-1 goals.

After Palestine and Afghanistan withdrew their names, only Nepal and Vietnam contested in Group C.
