KATHMANDU: In recent days, earthquake-stricken Jajarkot has witnessed a surge in VIP visits. Ministers, from the Prime Minister to the President, are rushing from Kathmandu to offer assistance to the earthquake victims.

Simultaneously, ministers from Karnali province continue to fly to Jajarkot by helicopter.

In this context, CP Gharti Magar, the Mayor of Bheri Municipality, has expressed his frustration towards the high-ranking leaders who have been arriving at the doorsteps of the earthquake victims under the pretext of monitoring.

Mayor Gharti also voiced his complaint that the top leaders who arrived, claiming to monitor the situation, had disregarded the rights of the local disaster management committee as stipulated by the constitution.

“Put an end to the unnecessary helicopter traffic in the skies over Bheri Municipality. Please refrain from infringing upon the rights of the local disaster management committee, as guaranteed by the constitution,” he stated.

Prime Minister, President, ministers, and senior leaders from various political parties have been arriving in Jajarkot by helicopter since the 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck last Friday night.

On Tuesday, Mayor Gharti made a plea for tarpaulins and essential relief supplies, emphasizing their critical need.
