RSP Chair Lamichhane expresses outrage as parliament meeting postponed

Accuses govt of prioritizing bargaining over governance

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has voiced strong objections to the continuous delay in resuming parliamentary sessions.

Following the postponement of Monday’s scheduled meeting to the next day, Lamichhane took to social media to express his anger.

Lamichhane criticized the government for prioritizing bargaining over the functioning of the parliament. He lamented that despite the pressing need for the enactment and amendment of various laws, the country remains stagnant due to the inactivity of the legislative body.

The Chairman expressed deep concern over the long-standing paralysis of the nation and emphasized the urgency of addressing public issues and making critical decisions through parliamentary proceedings.

The deadlock in the parliament has been further exacerbated by the gold smuggling case, as the main opposition party CPN-UML demands the formation of a high-level investigation committee.

With the parliament being out of session for an extended period, Speaker Devraj Ghimire independently called a meeting of the top three parties on Monday.

However, the meeting held at Singha Durbar failed to yield any conclusive results, leading to another round of discussions among the leaders at Baneshwar.
