KATHMANDU: Qatari Ambassador to Nepal Yousuf bin Mohamed Ahmed Al-Hail paid a farewell call on National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina today.

In the meeting held at the office of NA Chairperson Timilsina, Qatari Ambassador Al-Hail discussed the bilateral ties between Qatar and Nepal being deeper and broader in the areas such as employment, trade, investment, and tourism.

Timilsina, commending the Qatari government for providing employment opportunities for Nepali in big numbers, expressed his satisfaction over the contributions of Nepali migrant workers to uplift Qatar’s economy.

Acknowledging the contribution of Nepali migrant workers in Qatar to the country’s economy, he said that Nepal was committed to making foreign employment safer and well-regulated, according to the Secretariat of Timilsina.

According to him, Nepal had accorded high importance to sending semi-skilled and skilled workers to labor destinations such as Qatar and other countries that had scope for a labor market.

“To enhance connectivity between the two countries as well as to promote tourism, Nepal Airlines, Qatar Airlines, and Himalayan Airlines were conducting direct flight service to and from Qatar to Nepal at present,” he mentioned.

The NA Chairperson articulated the willingness of Nepal to work closely with Qatar in bilateral, regional, and multilateral to further enrich the friendly ties between the two countries and for the mutual interest of the people in both countries.

Similarly, Qatari Ambassador Al-Hail praised the contribution of Nepali migrant workers towards the development of Qatar and said that the Qatari government was serious about providing as much as facilities for them.

He grieved over the lack of response from the Nepali side regarding the Qatari side writing more than five times to the Nepali side for conducting direct flights from Qatar to Pokhara International Airport.

According to him, if the Nepali side would be interested, there would be no issue in conducting regular flights from Qatar to Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport.
