Over 600 students apply for NOC letter daily

KATHMANDU: Fascination for abroad studies is hugely increasing among Nepali students lately.

The statistics of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) speaks volume for it.

On average, over 600 aspirants apply for the No Objection Letter (NOC) required for foreign studies in a day.

A majority of the students have applied for Australia, Japan, Canada, and the USA, according to the Department that issues the NOC letter.

Of the 609 applications received by the Department last Thursday, 529 were approved and they will be granted the NOC letter today, informed Basudev Wasti, Under-Secretary of the Department.

The MoEST shared that over 80,000 students have obtained the NOC since July 17, the beginning of the current fiscal year 2022/23 to April 5.

Considering the increasing influx of service-seekers in the later days, the Department launched online services. The information provided by the applicants is verified and the NOC letter is issued the next day.

The long line in the Department’s office has decreased and the service delivery has become prompt and swift since the launch of the online service for NOC letters, claimed the Department.
