KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued an ultimatum, setting December 15 as the deadline for pharmacies operating illegally in the metropolis to comply with the law.

The metropolis emphasizes several issues, including the sale of medicines without prescriptions from unauthorized personnel, non-compliance with prevailing laws regarding the sale of narcotic drugs, inadequate record-keeping, pharmacies not adhering to Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), and operating without permission from local authorities. These concerns have been raised following complaints from the general public.

Mayor Balen Shah has cautioned that actions will be taken against pharmacies failing to comply with the law by December 15. Mayor Shah stated, “Failing to do so by the given date will result in the closure of the pharmacy.”
