PM Dahal announces Rs 50,000 relief for Bajhang Earthquake victims

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, known as ‘Prachanda,’ has pledged 50,000 rupees in aid to families whose homes were completely destroyed by the recent earthquake in Bajhang, to assist them in building temporary housing.

During his visit to Chainpur, the epicenter of the Bajhang earthquake, Prime Minister Dahal observed the extensive damage and made the announcement to support earthquake victims with immediate relief.

He also revealed plans to provide immediate financial assistance of 15 to 20 thousand rupees to other families affected by the earthquake. Expressing his condolences to the landslide victims, the Prime Minister assured that families of the deceased would receive 200,000 rupees immediately, and free medical treatment would be provided to the injured.

Ex-President Bhandari calls for boosting social harmony, awareness, and vigilance

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appealed to one and all to become responsible, exercise restraint, and adopt forbearance in the context of the activities undermining social harmony happening in several places of the country.

Issuing a public message on maintaining social unity and harmony, she has drawn attention to the incidences capable of raising serious questions on the religious, cultural, and inter-community goodwill and tolerance subsisting for centuries in Nepali society.

The former Head-of-State said, “I want to draw the attention of all towards the use of fake news and misleading information as well to foment activities pitting the Nepali people against each other to the extent of disturbing peace in society and having a negative impact on the compliance of the existing laws.”

Prime Minister Dahal visits earthquake-hit Bajhang

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ visited Bajhang today to assess the areas affected by the earthquake.

He traveled to Bajhang via a Nepal Army helicopter and is expected to return to Kathmandu later this evening.

The visit includes a program to inspect the areas damaged by the earthquake and engage in discussions with the District Disaster Management Committee.

Bajhang’s Chief District Officer, Narayan Pandey, stated that he would guide Prime Minister Prachanda to the locations impacted by the earthquake.

Dues of previous fiscal year will be cleared before Dashain: Minister Mahat

Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said the dues of the previous fiscal year to be paid to construction entrepreneurs would be cleared before Dashain.

Talking to media persons here today, the Finance Minister shared, “We have already paid Rs 60-70 billion till the end of the previous fiscal year. Around six-seven billion rupees is remaining to be paid. It will be cleared before Dashain.”

Mithila community celebrating Jitiya festival with great zeal

The married women from the Mithila community are celebrating the Jitiya festival with great fervor today.

The festival falls on the eighth day of the waning moon (Krishna Paksha) in the Nepali month of Ashwin as per the lunar calendar and is celebrated by wishing for the longevity of offspring and family’s well-being by observing strict fasting.

They feast on ‘Ogatan’ (delicacies) at midnight of the previous day before observing a fast that bars even consumption of water. Prior to observing a fast, women devotees take a holy bath in nearby rivers, ponds, or lakes and observe a fast.

Police take to five rounds of aerial fire amidst violent clash in Kalyanpur, Siraha

A confrontation between a faction of ward chairpersons supported by the mayor and dissatisfied counterparts in Kalyanpur municipality, Siraha, escalated into a violent clash. The dispute revolved around issues related to the municipal assembly.

This simmering feud between the two factions had persisted for several days. Tensions escalated when supporters of Mayor Rampukar Sah joined a protest organized by the dissatisfied group.

RPP Chairman Lingden sparks controversy referring to Gyanendra Shah as a King

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman and lawmaker Rajendra Lingden has sparked controversy in the House of Representatives by referring Gyanendra Shah as a King.

In Friday’s session of the House of Representatives, RPP Chairman Lingden caused commotion by addressing Shah as a king.

Lingden vehemently opposed the statements made by leaders from major political parties, asserting that royalists and former King Shah disrupted social harmony.

Leaders had accused royalists of undermining religious harmony and called for their monitoring.

Lingden questioned the basis for these allegations and sought clarification on how King Gyanendra’s actions had impacted democracy.

Asian Games 2023: Nepal wins bronze medal in Women’s Kabaddi

Under the 19th Asian Games, Nepal won the bronze medal in women’s Kabaddi.

Nepal, which had secured at least a bronze medal by making it to the semi-finals, could not advance after losing to India today.

Although the team could not advance, Nepal won the first medal in this edition of the Asian Games.

Nepal lost to India with a score of 61-17 at Jiaosan Guali Sports Center in Hangzhou.

There is a provision to give a bronze medal to the Kabaddi team that reaches the semi-finals in the Asian Games.
