Lawmakers demand details about death of Nepali youth in Russian Army

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Rajendra Bajgain has demanded information from the government about the death of a Nepali youth who had joined the Russian Army.

Speaking at zero hour in the meeting of the House of Representatives held on Friday, Bajgain said that when he raised a question about the Nepali youth recruited in the Russian Army, he did not get a concrete answer from his Foreign Minister NP Saud, also a leader from his own party.

He asked for the opinion of the government about the dire situation that could arise from this.

“I had raised here before that the recruitment of Nepalese youth in the Russian Army could cause problems. So far, the minister of our party has not given a concrete answer,” lawmaker Bajgain said, “I want to repeat again, there is a situation where Nepali youth have joined the Russian Army and even died. What is the government’s opinion about this terrible situation?”

Bajgain also questioned whether the Foreign Minister inquired about the Russian government’s opinion as Nepal and Russia have had relations since 1956 and there is also a Russian Embassy in Nepal.
