KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ visited Bajhang today to assess the areas affected by the earthquake.

He traveled to Bajhang via a Nepal Army helicopter and is expected to return to Kathmandu later this evening.

The visit includes a program to inspect the areas damaged by the earthquake and engage in discussions with the District Disaster Management Committee.

Bajhang’s Chief District Officer, Narayan Pandey, stated that he would guide Prime Minister Prachanda to the locations impacted by the earthquake.

The earthquake, which occurred on Tuesday with its epicenter near Talkot and Chainpur in Bajhang, and subsequent aftershocks, resulted in significant damage to the district.

The earthquake left 20 people injured and claimed one life. Out of the injured individuals, 13 have been discharged after receiving medical care, while five have been referred to other medical facilities. Two individuals are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital, and their conditions are stable.

Although the earthquake caused extensive damage to physical structures, including houses, comprehensive details are still being collected. CDO Pandey mentioned that efforts are ongoing to gather information from all wards of the municipalities.
