KATHMANDU: Journalist Baburam Bishwakarma’s thought-provoking book titled “Bhurajniti Ko Bhaar” (Burden of Geopolitics) was released in Kathmandu.
The book launch event saw the presence of esteemed figures, including former Chief Justice (CJ) Kalyan Shrestha and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Minendra Rizal.
In “Bhurajniti Ko Bhaar,” Bishwakarma critically examines the challenges Nepal faces due to the outdated leadership’s political pursuits, solely focused on attaining and retaining power.
He sheds light on the concerning trend of Nepal becoming vulnerable to foreign interests, emphasizing the need for a robust and visionary approach to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.
Addressing the gathering, former Chief Justice Shrestha highlighted the lack of balance in the country’s diplomacy and the urgent need to chart a productive path forward.
He expressed concerns over the belief that the growth of neighboring countries will automatically lead to Nepal’s development, cautioning that merely relying on geography is not enough; proactive and effective politics are equally crucial.
The book delves into crucial topics such as the country’s Constitution, the significance of maintaining a non-aligned and independent foreign policy, the fundamental values of democracy, and exemplary global foreign policy practices.
Through well-researched insights, Bishwakarma offers valuable perspectives on how Nepal can navigate its geopolitical landscape with prudence and astuteness.
“Bhurajniti Ko Bhaar” provides readers with a comprehensive understanding of Nepal’s geopolitical dynamics, urging citizens and policymakers alike to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding the nation’s interests.
