SC demands govt’s written response on the writ against Resham Chaudhary’s amnesty

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has demanded a written response from the government regarding the writ filed against the amnesty granted to Resham Chaudhary. Chaudhary had been convicted by all three courts in the Tikapur murder case.

Despite being found guilty as the main planner of the Tikapur incident by all three levels of courts, Chaudhary was granted amnesty by the government on June 15th. The court, while hearing the petition filed by the late Police Inspector Keshav Bohra’s wife, gave priority to the case.

Justice Prakashman Singh Raut’s bench requested a written reply from the government on Tuesday, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.

Sharda Bohora, the wife of the deceased Police Inspector Bohra, lodged a petition in the Supreme Court last Sunday.

It is noteworthy that Chaudhary, who had received a life imprisonment sentence from the Supreme Court, was granted amnesty.
