Newcomer Church Boys clinches Martyr’s Memorial A Division League title



KATHMANDU: The title of the ongoing Martyr’s Memorial A Division League has been clinched by the newcomer Church Boys United club.

The Church Boys won the title in their first attempt.

In the 25th-round match, the Church Boys played a goalless draw with Three Star Club in a situation where the Church Boys only had one point to win the title in the last two matches.

Although the Church Boys had opportunities to score, the club was unsuccessful. In the 17th minute of the game, Church Boys missed an opportunity to take the lead. Church Boys’ Ashish Chaudhary’s shot was thwarted by Three Star’s goalkeeper Arun Blown. Church Boys’ attempt to take the lead in the 37th minute was stopped by Three Star goalkeeper Blown again.

Arun stopped the header attempt made by Church Boys’ Anant Tamang in the corner of Eric Bista. After that, the Church Boys, who kept the pressure on the game, created opportunities for one goal after another but could not succeed.
