UML chair Oli complains of being defamed

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli complained that his party and the leadership have been defamed by connecting them with fake Bhutanese refugee-related fraud cases.

UML Chairman Oli, who had an hour-long discussion with Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Kamala Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today at Singha Durbar said that there was no discussion about fake refugees, but did not offer details of the discussion.

He commented that rumors were being spread against him saying that he was trying to save the accused.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and UML According to Prime Minister Dahal’s secretariat, the leader duo discussed various issues including the government’s action in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

The leaders also deliberated on the latest national affairs, informed Manohari Timilsina, Prime Minister Dahal’s press expert.

CPN-UML calls Secretariat meeting

CPN-UML has called a meeting of its Secretariat on May 9 to discuss contemporary politics, among other issues.

According to the Deputy Head of the UML Publicity Department, Bishnu Rijal, the meeting to be held at the UML party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur will decide the agenda of the upcoming Central Committee meeting.

The party is holding its fifth Central Committee meeting on May 13, 14 and 15 in Jhapa.

Police searching for others involved in fake Bhutanese refugees scam

Police have stepped up their search for other people implicated in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

It may be noted that a group of people had been involved in defrauding millions of rupees from the people in the name of sending them to the USA in the guise of Bhutanese refugees.

According to the District Police Office, Kathmandu, a team has been mobilized for the search and investigation after the accused with an arrest warrant remained out of contact, said Superintendent of Police at the Range, Sitaram Rijal.

He shared that CPN-UML Secretary and former Energy Minister, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi with an arrest warrant is out of police contact.

Similarly, police have not been able to get any information about Niraj Rai, son of Indrajit Rai, security advisor to then Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.

Nepal sees 76 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours, active cases 137

Nepal recorded a total of 76 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.

Out of the confirmed cases, one was detected through the RT-PCR method and 75 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,603 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Out of the tested cases 55 were tested through the RT-PCR method and 1548 were tested through the Antigen method.

Currently, there are 137 active cases in the country as 26 infected patients recovered in the past 24 hours.

PM Dahal assures of strict action against those involved in fake Bhutanese refugee case

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his determination not to spare anybody involved in the fake refugee scam.

The Prime Minister said pressure from any side will not be tolerated and the culprits will be brought to justice.

Prime Minister Dahal said this in a brief conversation with media persons after his meeting with CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli at Singha Durbar today. “Oliji raised concerns about the investigation”, he said.
