Foreign exchange reserves are $10.3 billion, in strongest position since 23 months

KATHMANDU: Nepal has witnessed an improvement in foreign exchange reserves of late.

According to the data published by the Nepal Rastra Bank in mid-January, there has been an improvement in foreign exchange reserves.

Last year, foreign currency reserves increased to 10.3 billion dollars from 9.89 billion US dollars by mid-January.

Last year, Nepal Rastra Bank took a policy of imposing cash margin and increasing interest rates while importing foreign currency reserves as it was decreasing alarmingly.

However, even after the said policy of the central bank, the decline in foreign exchange reserves did not stop. On mid-July, the foreign exchange reserves, which were 9.54 billion dollars, increased by 760 million dollars in 6 months.

Earlier, by mid-November 2021, the foreign currency reserves were 10.47 billion dollars.
