Govt hikes price of petroleum products

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has hiked the price of fuel.  The retail price of petrol and diesel/kerosene has been increased by Rs 3 per litre. With this, the price of petrol has reached Rs 178 per liter and diesel/kerosene cost Rs 175 per liter.

PM Dahal emphasizes on making attorney service effective

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has emphasized the need for making the prosecution more effective. Inspecting the Office of the Attorney General on Monday, PM Dahal said that only a competent and professional workforce can deliver effective service.

Maoist Center lawmaker Aryal elected National Assembly Vice-Chair unopposed

CPN-Maoist Center lawmaker Urmila Aryal has been elected as the Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly. Speaker of the Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina informed the Assembly that Aryal was elected unopposed as there was only one candidate for the post of Vice Chairperson.

Health Minister assures quality health services for all

Minister for Health and Population, Padam Giri, has said the government was making efforts to ensure all citizens’ access to quality healthcare services. In his address to a cooperative meeting in Birtamod-2, Jhapa today, the Minister said the government had prioritised the need to ensure citizens’ easy access to quality healthcare and efforts were underway for it.

Tea producers demand chemical fertilizers

Jhapa is the largest tea producing district of Nepal. Tea farming and estate is densely found here. Thousands of farmers and labourers are relying their life sustenance on tea farming.

NA demands registration of vehicles returned after peacekeeping mission

Party Spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada said that the party has decided to hold its national convention according to the decision of the party’s central committee decision.

Kathmandu District Court sentences Manoj Pandey to 7 years imprisonment in human trafficking case

The Kathmandu District Court has sentenced rape-accused Manoj Pandey, the owner of Model Global Visas Consultancy, to 7 years imprisonment. District Court Kathmandu’s Information Officer Deepak Dahal informed that the bench of Justice Deepak Dhakal decided to sentence the accused to seven years imprisonment along with Rs 75,000 as compensation. The public prosecutor filed a case in the Kathmandu District Court demanding 10 to 12 years imprisonment and compensation of 50,000 to 100,000 rupees.

Foreign exchange reserves are $10.3 billion, in strongest position since 23 months

Nepal has witnessed an improvement in foreign exchange reserves of late. According to the data published by the Nepal Rastra Bank in mid-January, there has been an improvement in foreign exchange reserves. Last year, foreign currency reserves increased to 10.3 billion dollars from 9.89 billion US dollars by mid-January.
