Ruling coalition decides to announce Prithvi Jayanti a public holiday



KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has decided to give a public holiday to mark Prithvi Jayanti on Poush 27.

The ruling coalition, in its 18-point Common Minimum Program (CMP), has mentioned that it has been decided to give a public holiday on the day of Prithvi Jayanti (the birthday of Prithvi Narayan Shah).

“Remembering and honoring the historicity of geographical integration of Nepal, it has been decided to give a public holiday on the day of Prithvi Jayanti,” the statement said.

CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party announced 18-point policy priorities and programs on Friday.

The report will be submitted to the top leaders of the ruling party on Saturday.
