Palpa bus mishap: Six die, 18 sustain injuries

PALPA: At least six persons died in a bus accident in Palpa last night.

A bus (Ga 1 Kha 4977) en route to Khursane from Saljhandi met with the accident along the Saljhandi-Dhorapatan road section in Rainadevichhahara rural municipality-8, Tandi.

The deceased have been identified as Nirmala Ghimire, 36, of Rainadevichhahara-8, her 11-year-old daughter Sarumaya, Khim Kumari Rana, 54, Guna Kumari Gaha, 40, Dan Kumari Khatry, 21, and Beema Pandey, 19, informed DSP at Palpa Police, Birendra Thapa.

The accident was said to take place at around 10.00 pm last night. The bus had fallen around 100 metres off the road.

As many as 18 passengers sustained injuries in the accident.

As informed, six among the injured are being treated at Edmond ity Hospital, Jeetgadhi, Butwal and 12 are undergoing treatment in Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. Police took control the bus driver to investigate into the incident.
