Govt serious about doctors’ safety: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that the government is committed to the safety, interests, and career development of doctors and healthcare workers dedicated to serving the people.

Addressing the 4th convocation ceremony of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) in Kathmandu on Thursday, PM Dahal expressed his deep concern regarding the series of attacks on health workers, including doctors.

“The government is actively working on legal measures to address these issues after consulting with medical professionals,” he said, reaffirming the government’s dedication to curbing untoward activities within this vital sector.

He urged all doctors and healthcare workers to continue their profession with confidence and trust.

The government is focused on increasing investment in the healthcare sector and ensuring job opportunities for the country’s human resources, he added.

PM Dahal also emphasized the importance of realizing citizens’ right to healthcare.

“All concerned parties must work together to guarantee the rights and opportunities of the poor, destitute, and disadvantaged communities,” he stressed.

Furthermore, the PM noted that NAMS was established to produce highly qualified human resources for advanced studies and research in medical sciences and to deliver reasonable and high-quality healthcare services to the citizens.
