KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he would fight lifelong for the welfare and equal rights of Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen and for the defense of Nepalis scattered across the world.

Addressing an interaction organized by Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Organization (GAESO) about the problems faced by retired Gurkha Army personnel in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that he would take initiatives to resolve the discriminatory practices on pensions, salary, and other facilities against Gurkhas recruited in the British Army, adding that this is was the responsibility of Nepal and Nepal government.

“The issue of the Gurkha Ex-Servicemen should be raised and addressed bilaterally and multilaterally since it could not be done from the national level. I am clear that such issues should be raised in the international forum by the State and should addressed for the welfare of Nepali residing across the world,” according to the PM.

Likewise, the PM said that the solution to the impacts of the climate change Nepal faces should be sought from the international forum through diplomatic mediums.

The issues of the Nepali migrant workers in the Gulf countries and other destination countries or the issues of the Gurkha Ex-Servicemen should be sought through diplomatic channels in the international forums, according to the PM.
