Maoist-Center Deputy General Secretary Pun urges unwavering anti-corruption campaign



KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist-Center Deputy General Secretary, Barsha Man Pun ‘Ananta,’ has expressed strong support for the anti-corruption campaign initiated by the government led by Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’

Speaking at the party’s central committee meeting in the capital on Saturday, Pun emphasized that the campaign must continue relentlessly, even if it implicates party leaders.

Pun asserted that the government should intensify the investigations to bolster trust in the party leadership through concrete actions. He emphasized that corrupt individuals should not escape punishment under any circumstances and called for unwavering dedication to the campaign, even if it demands personal sacrifices.

His remarks come amidst media speculations about his alleged involvement in a gold smuggling case, fueled by a photo taken with a person connected to the smuggling operation several years ago.

Regarding party leadership, Pun affirmed his full support for Chairman Prachanda, stating that the party should develop a culture of preparing successors to ensure continuity and stability.

He proposed implementing the three-one policy, consisting of old, mature, and young members, to strengthen the party organization. Additionally, Pun suggested that the party’s upcoming legislative conference should be utilized to address the party’s internal challenges.

Reflecting on the changing nature of class struggle and political dynamics, Pun advocated for a government-led approach and proposed forming a party suitable for the digital era.

On another note, he mentioned his prolonged absence from party activities due to health treatment. Prime Minister Dahal, also the party chairman, informed the central committee that Pun had returned from successful treatment in China and was in good health.
