KATHMANDU: The writ petition against Prime Minister and CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been scheduled under Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal’s bench at the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday.
Earlier, the writ was heard in the bench of Justice Vishwambhar Prasad Shrestha.
Citing that the then CPN-Maoist chairman Prachanda took the responsibility of killings of 5,000 people out of 17,000 people killed during the conflict in the country amidst a program organized at Tundikhel Kathmandu on January 14, 2017, the victims of the armed conflict including Gyanendraraj Aran, Kalyan Budhathoki among others filed a case against Prime Minister and Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda demanding investigation and prosecution against him.
Earlier, although the court refused to take up the case against Prachanda, a writ was registered in the court after the joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Hari Prasad Phuyal annulled the bench’s order.
With the case going on in the court, the then Maoist related parties are unitedly opposing this writ.
