KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the deposition of the defendant in the case related to former lawmaker and Nagarik Unmukti Party leader Resham Chaudhary on Sunday.
Leader Chaudhary had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court demanding that the sentence of life imprisonment against him should be revoked.
The division bench of Justice Tank Bahadur Moktan and Manoj Kumar Sharma heard the case on Sunday and ordered the deposition of the defendant.
With the apex court’s order to withdraw the defendant, the debate and hearing will be executed again and after the debate, there will be a study of the case files and evidence.
In a clash between the protestors and the police in Tikapur of Kailali on August 24, 2015, eight security officials, including SSP Laxman Neupane and five others from Nepal Police, two Armed Police Force members and a child, were killed.
In the Tikapur incident, District Court Kailali and High Court Dipayal announced life imprisonment to leader Chaudhary, the main accused in the case.
