President to address joint session of Parliament on Feb 10



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to address a joint session of the Federal Parliament on coming Friday.

According to Spokesperson for the Office of President, Sagar Acharya, the President will, in accordance with the Article 95 of the Constitution, be addressing a joint sitting of the both House of the Parliament on February 10.

The Article 95 which is about Address by President states, “President may address either House or a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament, and s/he may summon the members for that purpose. President shall address the first session after an election to the House of Representatives and a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament after the commencement of the first session of each year.”

The first session of the HoR formed following the November 20 elections to the HoR and Province Assembly is underway.
