RUKUM WEST: Leader of the Maoist Center, Dev Prasad Gurung, has underscored the need for unity among political parties advocating communist ideology in Nepal.

Addressing a program in Rukum West today, Gurung emphasized the necessity for all communist forces to unite.

“There are ongoing discussions about the unification of former Maoist factions, and the same principle applies to the Socialist Front. A task force has been established for the unification with the Nepal Socialist Party. The parties will consolidate under the leadership of the Maoist Centre alone,” he said.

Gurung expressed that the people also desire to witness the consolidation of Maoist factions.

As the Maoist Centre’s general secretary, he acknowledged the apparent differences among communists in Nepal but believed that these disparities could be resolved.

“Internal conflicts among communists are detrimental. They pose challenges for the communists in Nepal. We must function as a cohesive bloc at one point or another,” he asserted.

Leader Gurung predicted that the current coalition government would endure for three years.

“The present government will persist for a full three years. Despite various attempts to topple it, these endeavors will not succeed. The people appreciate this government, and it has been undertaking initiatives beneficial to the citizens,” he reiterated.

Gurung also urged everyone to commit to the construction of temporary houses in earthquake-affected areas.
