Bodies of three more Nepali students killed in Israel brought to Kathmandu

Bodies of three more Nepali students killed in the attack by Hamas in Israel arrived in Nepal recently. Ten Nepali students were killed in the attack.

The bodies of Ananda Sah from Sapahi-6, Dhanusha; Rajesh Kumar Swornakar from Madhuwan-1, Sunsari; and Rajan Phulara from Pachnali-3, Doti were brought from Fly Dubai aircraft, said Joint Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, Shard Raj Aran.

The body of Phulara arrived on Friday afternoon, Swornakar’s on Friday night, and Sah’s this morning, he added.

According to the Foreign Ministry, ten Nepali students were killed in the attack by Hamas in Israel on October 7 and bodies of eight students have been brought so far.

Koshi Province Cabinet Expansion: UML quits Koshi govt

Expressing dissatisfaction with Chief Minister Kedar Karki’s appointment of ministers from the CPN-Maoist Center and the CPN-Unified Socialist, the CPN-UML left the Koshi government on Saturday.

Minister Ram Bahadur Rana Magar, who represented the UML in the Nepali Congress (NC)-led cabinet, submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Karki on Saturday morning.

He was appointed as a minister without a portfolio on the very day Chief Minister Karki was sworn into office.

Jajarkot earthquake update: Death toll climbs to 157

The aftermath of the earthquake centered in Jajarkot has left a devastating toll, with the number of fatalities now standing at 157.

As per the latest data, 105 individuals lost their lives in Jajarkot, while Rukum West bore the brunt of 52 casualties.

Additionally, over 168 people have been reported as injured.

PM Dahal takes stock of earthquake impact in Jajarkot

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who arrived in Jajarkot on Saturday morning, is assessing the impact of the earthquake that left a trail of destruction.

Prime Minister Dahal is accompanied by a 16-member medical team from the Nepali Army.

PM Dahal has instructed the concerned authorities for a swift response to the urgent medical needs of the affected areas.

He sought information about the district’s situation, engaging with Chief District Officer Suresh Sunar.

The death toll from the 6.4 magnitude Jajarkot earthquake has risen to 128, with 92 reported fatalities in Jajarkot and 36 in Rukum West.

As reported by the Prime Minister’s Office, the number of injured individuals has reached 140, with 55 in Jajarkot and 85 in Rukum West.

Efforts are underway to collect detailed information on the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake.

Govt decides to provide Rs 50 million each to Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts

The government has decided to provide Rs 50 million each to quake-hit Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts. The amount would be ensured through the central relief management fund.

A meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kani Shrestha took this decision today. Similarly, the relief distribution would be enforced via a one-door system.

The immediate needs as blankets, tarpaulin sheets, and food stuffs were supplied to the quake-hit areas, while the province government and district management committees were directed to inform on time in case of further need, DPM Shrestha shared.

PM Dahal appeals to join hands in rescue, relief and treatment of quake victims

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government was serious in relief, rehabilitation, and treatment of injured people.

Taking to social sites, Prime Minister Dahal appealed to all political parties, the private sector, and civil society to collaborate and join hands in the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of quake-affected people.

He mentioned that he reached the earthquake-hit areas to take stock of damages caused by devastating earthquakes, to listen pain of victims, to rescue the injured, and to provide relief to quake survivors.

4 NA aircraft deployed to earthquake-affected area

The Nepal Army dispatched four military helicopters to support ongoing search and rescue operations in the earthquake-stricken Jajarkot district on Saturday.

Nepal Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bhandari, announced that soldiers from two battalions have been deployed for search and rescue missions.

The earthquake, which struck Ramedanda in Jajarkot, caused significant damage to Khalanga Bazar and Nalgarh Municipality in the Bheri Municipality of Jajarkot. The disaster has claimed 132 lives in Rukum West and Jajarkot, with 140 people sustaining injuries.

Brigadier General Bhandari disclosed that a team, equipped with medical supplies, was swiftly transported from Kathmandu to the affected area using a cargo plane and three helicopters.

Deputy Mayor Singh of Nalgad Municipality killed in earthquake

The earthquake led to the passing of Sarita Singh, the Deputy Mayor of Nalgad Municipality in Jajarkot.

Singh, who was in Jajarkot’s headquarters Khalanga when the earthquake struck last night, suffered severe injuries after being trapped under a collapsed structure.

A deadly 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Jajarkot last night leaving 50 dead, authorities said.

Purna Bahadur Khatri, Ward Chairman of Nalgad Municipality Ward No. 2, confirmed her demise.
