Two students killed as a truck hits them in Malekhu



DHADING: Two students lost their lives when a truck hit them in Majuwa, Malekhu, Dhading district on Wednesday morning.

Nirmal Shrestha and Sanjeev Shrestha, both students at Siddhalake, met an untimely demise as the truck collided with them, leaving no room for survival, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Santulal Prasad Jaiswar of the District Police Office.

The truck, bearing registration Pradesh 02-001B 6413, was en route from Kathmandu to Chitwan when the incident unfolded this morning.

Both victims were pursuing their education in Class 8 at Bageshwari Secondary School.

In the wake of the incident, enraged locals took matters into their own hands, staging a protest by blocking traffic on the Prithvi Highway in the Malekhu area, demanding due compensation for the bereaved families.

The 41-year-old truck driver, identified as Ashok Bamjan from Chandrapur Municipality-2 in Rautahat, has been apprehended by the police and is currently in custody.
