Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan concerned at NA’s preparation for arms procurement from China

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan has expressed concern over the preparation of the Nepali Army to procure weapons from China without formal bidding procedures.

Issuing a press statement on Thursday, Abhiyan demanded transparency in the procedures adopted for the weapons procurement from China.

“Nepali Army is preparing to purchase weapons worth 6 billion rupees from China without a competitive process, this is a clear indication of disregard for fair practice and transparency,” Abhiyan Chair Binaya Yadav said, adding, “It is sad to hear that Nepali Army, which is considered to be an organization that upholds the values of loyalty and honesty, has shown such immoral behavior.”

Yadav has urged the government to investigate the issue thoroughly and take timely actions to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in future.
