Good governance, and transparency main priorities of govt: DPM Shrestha

CHARIKOT, DOLAKHA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has said the major priority of the current government is the end of corruption and the establishment of good governance.

He reminded that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had directed every ministry to hold meetings every month and present progress with adequate preparation for work. DPM Shrestha was saying it while inaugurating the Dolakha Festival organized by the district chapter of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in Dolakha on Friday.

The DPM further informed that the government had planned to make aware the civil servants from local-level employees to ministry secretaries to devote to establishing good governance.

National unity, protection of the constitution, the conclusion of the peace process, and socio-economic transformation of the country are other equally important tasks of the government, DPM Shrestha shared. “Country’s economy is not satisfactory. There is a huge trade loss, so we must focus on the increase in production. The recession will badly affect people’s livelihood,” he underscored.

DPM Shrestha also emphasized that all three layers of government could launch production-focused programs.

On the occasion, Dolakha chapter chair of the chamber, Bishnu Shrestha, informed that the Festival was organized in a bid to restore economic activities which were dented much by COVID-19.

The discussion was begun on the potential of agriculture, livestock, tourism, and hydropower, among others as part of the Festival. Similarly, competitive cultural pageants, and performances by noted national and local artists are on the list, according to the organizers.
