12 women rescued from India in two months



KATHMANDU: Twelve Nepali women have been rescued from India in two months from mid-November 2022 to mid-January 2023.

The Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau rescued the 12 women, heading towards different foreign countries after being duped in the name of foreign employment.

They were flying off from Jaipur International Airport in Rajasthan of India. Bureau Director, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeevan Kumar Shrestha said the women were kept in Jaipur of India by promising them of sending to Ethiopia via Dubai on a visit visa.

The women were rescued at the initiative of the Bureau in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, Indian Police, social organization (Help Cross India) and Peace Rehabilitation Centre, Nepal. Most of the women are married and aged between 31-40 years.

Some of them were overseas returnees. As per the data of Bureau, 214 women were rescued in the past five years.
