KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national cricket team is gearing up to take on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a high-stakes match today, with a spot in the T20 World Cup at stake.
Following a narrow 5-run defeat to Oman in the last group stage match on Thursday, Nepal is now set to clash with UAE.
Nepal, initially eyeing the top spot in the group, fell short of the 146-run target set by Oman in the match held on Thursday.
On the other hand, in the Group B fixture at Mulpani, UAE secured a 22-run victory against Hong Kong, thereby clinching the top position in the group.
Consequently, it has been confirmed that UAE will face Nepal in a decisive encounter for the coveted T20 World Cup qualifiers.
In pursuit of a challenging 177-run target, Hong Kong succumbed to pressure, losing 8 wickets and ending at 154 runs.
The stage is set for Nepal to seek redemption in today’s face-off, aiming to avenge their previous defeat against UAE and secure their spot in the upcoming World Cup.
