PM Dahal emphasizes long-term significance of China agreements

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ delivered a significant update to the party regarding his recent international engagements.

This report focuses on his attendance at the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States and his subsequent official visit to China.

During a high-level meeting of party office-bearers, Dahal underscored the global significance of Nepal’s presence at the UNGA, where he represented the nation. “Our participation in this grand event not only bolstered Nepal’s international standing but also allowed the global community to gain a deeper insight into our country,” he noted.

Turning his attention to the visit to Nepal’s northern neighbor, the Prime Minister highlighted the long-term importance of the bilateral agreements and understandings achieved during his visit, as confirmed by party Vice Chairperson and Spokesperson, Agni Prasad Sapkota.

“The meetings held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, including the one with the UN Secretary-General, were of utmost importance,” emphasized the Prime Minister during the party’s internal discussions.

Among the key agreements mentioned by Prime Minister Dahal were those related to cooperation between Nepal’s National Planning Commission and China’s National Development and Reform Commission. Additionally, agreements in sectors such as cross-border transmission lines, agriculture, and science and technology were deemed vital for Nepal’s development.

The party meeting concluded with instructions to party leaders and cadres, urging them to contribute to the success of the ‘transformation campaign’ launched by the party on September 2.

Prime Minister Dahal’s recent international engagements saw him depart for the United Nations headquarters in New York on September 16, followed by a direct journey to China commencing on September 23. He returned to Nepal on September 30 after these significant diplomatic missions.
