U.S. Senator Hollen seeks deeper democracy partnership with Nepal

United States Senator Chris Van Hollen expressed a strong desire to foster a deeper partnership with Nepal in the realm of democracy during his visit. Speaking to journalists in Kathmandu on Sunday morning, Senator Hollen stated, “Given Nepal’s status as a young and dynamic democracy, we are eager to strengthen our existing relationship and partnership while bolstering both political and commercial ties.”

 “Hello Sarkar” expands services to operate round the clock

The government has decided to operate “Hello Sarkar” 24 hours a day. This government initiative, designed to address citizen complaints, has been operational for the past 12 years, but it will now expand its service to operate continuously in three shifts. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” officially launched this expansion program, where he personally addressed citizens’ concerns, inspected the “Hello Sarkar” room at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ office in Singha Durbar, and monitored its operations.

Two die in Pepsicola bus accident

Two among 14 people injured in a road accident that took place at Pepsicola of Kathmandu this morning have died. Fourteen people were injured in the accident occurred at 7.30 this morning when a bus (Ba.3Kha. 4848) en route to Pepsicola from Jadibuti collided a jeep (Ba. 6 Cha.5342) coming from the opposite direction, said Spokesperson of District Police Range, Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Kumod Dhungel.

JSP holds extended meeting in Madhesh Province

The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) held an extended meeting in all eight districts of Madesh Pradesh today. According to the JSP Central Publicity Department, the meeting has been called to decide on the party expansion and strengthening campaign. The meeting of the Madhesh Province Executive Committee on August 28 decided to hold an extended meeting in all the districts of the province on Sunday.

Two people killed in a jeep accident in Sindhupalchowk

Two people died and six others were injured in a jeep accident near Panchkilo on Lamosanghu-Jiri road section of Sindhupalchowk district. The jeep car (Ba 15 Ch 9370) met with an accident around two o’clock this morning.  District Police Office Sindhupalchowk said that driver Uttamraj Maharjan and Bal Bahadur Khatri of Sindhupalchok died in the accident.

Woman arrested with 1 kg of gold

A woman has been arrested with a kilogram of gold about to be smuggled into the country. Pachemu Tamang, 41, a resident of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-3 was arrested from the Miteri bridge, according to District Police Chief Subas Budhathoki.

NEA asks customers of dedicated lines to settle outstanding dues within 15 days

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has issued a notice to industrial and commercial customers who previously utilized dedicated and trunk lines for electricity supply during load shedding, urging them to settle their outstanding dues within 15 days.

Three-wheeler e-rickshaws prohibited in highway

The Itahari sub-metropolitan city of Sunsari has decided not to allow three-wheeler e-rickshaws to ply on the main highway. The e-rickshaws have been banned on the main highway starting today due to the increase in road accidents in Itahari, said Hemkarna Paudel, Mayor of Itahari.

Dengue infection tally exceeds 21,000 in Nepal

The incidence of dengue infection is surging in Nepal, with recent data released by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division revealing a total of 21,206 confirmed cases of dengue infection. It is noteworthy that the Division had previously forecasted an increase in dengue cases from mid-August to mid-October.
