NC leader Koirala raises objections over exoneration of former PMs in Lalita Niwas case

KATHMANDU: Dr. Shekhar Koirala, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), has expressed concerns over the alleged attempt to exonerate former Prime Ministers involved in the Lalita Niwas land case.

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Dr. Koirala stated that when the investigation started implicating prominent leaders, a new scandal was brought forward to divert attention.

“Following the fake Bhutanese refugee issue, the Lalita Niwas case came to the forefront, showing signs of progress until the gold smuggling scandal surfaced. Regrettably, it seems to have hit a standstill due to the involvement of certain influential individuals,” queried Koirala.

He further added, “This situation raises questions. Where does such a thing happen now?”

It is worth noting that the names of former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai were also linked to the Lalit Niwas land grab case.
