KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said that the government is determined to ensure easy and convenient healthcare services to the poor and needy.

Addressing the staff nurses who passed the public service commission examination and got permanent appointments at a function held in the capital today, he said that efforts are being made to provide access to free healthcare to all citizens within the next five years.

“The government is determined to fulfill the right to health care treatment guaranteed by the constitution for the citizens,” he said.

Stating that the position and responsibility of the staff nurse is connected with humanitarian sentiments, he suggested as the tone and conduct of health workers make the patient feel comfortable along with the medical treatment, special attention should be paid to that end.

The state is determined to fulfill its obligations towards the health personnel and provide them with incentives, he said and announced that priority will be given in training to all levels of human resources active in the service of patients.

Secretary of the Ministry Dr Roshan Pokharel congratulated the newly appointed 295 staff nurses and instructed them to fulfill their duty and responsibilities honestly.
