KATHMANDU: The National Assembly has begun deliberations on the Appropriation Bill- 2080 BS that was earlier endorsed by the House of Representatives.

As per the preliminary schedule, the meeting will discuss budget allocations to the Ministry of Forests and Environment, the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Urban Development, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies for the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24.

The matter of caste-based discrimination against Dalits was raised in the meeting. The meeting drew the government’s attention over an alleged incidence of untouchability in Dang. A Dalit student was allegedly forced to leave a rented room in Tulasipur of Dang upon the revelation of his caste.

The NA directed the government to investigate the issue and deal it with by law.
