PM Dahal’s India visit has nothing to do with arms procurement: Minister Sharma



KATHMANDU: The government has clarified that the issue of arms procurement from China has nothing to do with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s visit to India.

Minister of Communications and government Spokesperson, Rekha Sharma clarified that no proposal has come from the Ministry of Defense regarding the weapons to be purchased by the Nepali Army.

Sources had earlier claimed that the Nepali Army has initiated to process to purchase arms worth Rs 6 billion from China.

To a query about the government’s opinion on the purchase of arms, she said, “No such proposal has come to the Council of Ministers.”

She added that the issue of procuring weaponry from China will not affect Prime Minister Dahal’s visit to India.
