BUTWAL: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala highlighted the need for a leadership shift to cease violence and despair.
Speaking at the Lumbini province conference in Butwal, he emphasized instilling a spirit of sacrifice among NC leaders to drive change.
“To alter the NC’s trajectory, we must dispel internal frustration through sacrifice,” stated Koirala, linking sacrifice to peace, echoing Buddha’s teachings. He stressed that sacrifice can quell violence and transform the NC, subsequently impacting the nation positively.
Expressing concerns over governance lapses and burgeoning corruption, Koirala emphasized eradicating corruption and impunity for a new Nepal to emerge. He criticized political involvement in corruption, highlighting its impediment to progress.
Koirala emphasized the significance of convening the party convention, warning of further setbacks if it doesn’t happen by 2082. He emphasized unity within the party, suggesting that a unified approach could obviate the need for external assistance in future elections.
