Narayan Gopal Memorial Award presented to Tara Devi and Rasik

KATHMANDU: The Narayan Gopal Music Trust has announced that this year’s ‘Narayan Gopal Memorial Award’ will be bestowed upon Tara Devi, renowned as “Nightingale of Nepal”, and the prolific writer and singer Ganesh Rasik.

During a meeting chaired by the Trust’s Chairperson, Usha Sherchan, it was decided to honor Tara Devi posthumously for her remarkable contributions to the music industry spanning five decades. Rasik, recognized for his dedication to music and literature for around six decades, will also be honored.

Tara Devi, born on Magh 2, 2002 BS, had a remarkable career in Radio Nepal for approximately four decades, recording over 3500 songs in her lifetime. She passed away on Magh 9, 2062 BS.

Similarly, Rasik is a well-known figure in Nepali art and literature, having authored numerous books.

The award ceremony is scheduled for December 5, marking the 33rd Memorial Day of Swar Samrat Narayan Gopal. The Trust, established in 2047 BS, continues its mission to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to the field of music and literature.
