Yograj Dhakal “Regal” arrested



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Yograj Dhakal “Regal” soon after the Supreme Court (SC) overturned his imprisonment on Thursday.

Chief Superintendent of Police Subash Chandra Bohara, from the District Police Office Banke, said Regal was arrested in Nepalgunj.

Regal has been arrested in Nepalgunj following the Supreme Court’s order.

The Supreme Court on Thursday overturned the President’s decision to grant amnesty to Yograj Dhakal, who was previously imprisoned for life in a murder case.

The bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, and Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal, made the decision today following a two-day hearing of arguments from both parties.

The SC has also ordered the immediate arrest of Regal.

The full bench of the Supreme Court continued to deliberate on the matter throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.
