PM Dahal to deliver ‘directive statement’ on Tuesday



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is making a ‘directive statement’ on Tuesday in connection with rendering the government’s works and performance effective.

PM Dahal held consultations with the Government Secretary for the first time today on making the government’s works effective after his appointment to the post of Executive Chief. Prime Minister’s press coordinator Surya Kiran Sharma said that the Prime Minister listened to the Secretary’s statement today and will give necessary directives only on Tuesday.

Dahal who was appointed to the post of Prime Minister on December 25 has already announced before this that the government would focus on good governance and providing services to the citizens in a smooth and accessible manner.

Assuming office on December 26, he had declared to end the mismanagement in the public bodies rendering services to the public. The PM plans to make the works of especially the government offices which see large number of service-seekers prompt and efficient.

In this connection, the Prime Minister today sat for first round of talks with secretaries. Some secretaries and department chiefs are awaited to give presentation about the respective terms of references.

During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, secretaries reported the Prime Minister about existing situation of the respective ministries.  They briefed the head of the government about the ministries’ policies and programmes, annual budget and shortcomings in the delivery.

Secretaries from the ministries from home; finance; foreign affairs; physical infrastructure; culture and tourism presented their reports before the Prime Minister who is scheduled to give instructional speech following the presentation by remaining secretaries and department chiefs on Tuesday, according to press coordinator Sharma.
