High Court orders detention of 9, including former Ministers Khand and Rayamajhi

KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court, Lalitpur has ruled for the detention of nine individuals, notably former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

A joint bench presided by Judges Janak Pandey and Prakash Kharel has decreed the continued remand of Indrajit Rai, Keshav Dulal, Angtawa Sherpa, Sanu Bhandari, Sandesh Sharma, Govind Chaudhary, Sagar Rai, and Rayamajhi.

However, a disparity in opinion has emerged between the two judges regarding the release of former Home Minister Khand. Judge Prakash Kharel favors upholding Khand’s detention for further investigation, while Judge Janak Pandey advocates for Khand’s release on bail.

This divergence in viewpoints has led to a discussion for another initiation in the ongoing case involving the accused linked to the alleged fake Bhutanese refugee case.
