Teenager arrested in Biratnagar with Rs 22 lakhs of undisclosed source



BIRATNAGAR: A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested from Biratnagar-6 Shani Mandir Chowk with Rs 22 lakh rupees, police have stated.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the teenager, recovering Rs 22 lakh from a black bag in his possession.

The police have raised suspicions that the money might be linked to illegal hundi transactions.

The District Police Office Morang confirmed the recovery of Rs 21 lakh 87 thousand Nepali from the teenager.

Reportedly, the seized amount comprised 1,687 pieces of Rs 1,000 and 1,000 pieces of Rs 500 notes.

In addition to the cash, authorities also confiscated several cheques and receipts belonging to various individuals and financial institutions.

These included a cheque from Kumari Bank under the name of Balaram Kesari, another cheque of Rs 86 thousand in the name of Umesh Kumar Bhagat drawn on NIC Asia Bank, and 4 deposit receipts totaling Rs. 16 lakh 69 thousand 500 from Global IME Bank Ltd.

Moreover, a motorcycle bearing the number 1-02-043 P 6241 was seized during the operation.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter detaining the teenager in the custody of District Police Office Morang for further interrogation.
